Article for Round Up February 2026 (Rounds)

Sunset Twirlers Rounds News

Happy New Year to all our Dancers we hope you had a happy festive season.

Thank you to everybody who attended our Christmas Break Up in particular to Les, Anne, Shirley & Terry for cueing. Wonderful night dancing to Christmas music and not to mention the delicious supper. We had a lot of comments about the Christmas Cake which surprisingly was simply a Coles Homebrand Dark Christmas cake.

Les travelled to Melbourne to attend the funeral for Ella Whyte and also repesented SARDA. The chapel was full with both square and round dancers, but not a lot said about square or round dancing with no representatives being invited to speak.

The trip coincided with a visit to Panda Rounds for their Christmas Breakup that night. A wonderful night of dancing, the hall was packed and of course a magnificent supper provided by Graeme Nash. "One Way Ticket to the Blues" is proving to be popular there with Les being requested to cue it despite the Christmas theme.

Learners are now doing 6 dances (4 Rumbas, 2 Chas). The 6 dances completed include Blue Moon RB 3+1, Dream Rumba RB 3, Ascots Rumba RB 3+1, All I Ask of You RB 3+1, I'll be the One CH 3+1 and Let Your Love Flow CH 3. Whilst we have only danced 3 nights this year we have managed to do a lot of new dances including Land of Enchantment RB 3+1, Conga Conga III CH 3+2, Devil Woman TS 2+1, Pisces Rumba RB 4+1, True Love Ways BO 3+2 and Sam WZ 2+1

And to finish on a high note, congratulations to Anne & Les who have been invited to teach and present the dance 'Street Fair' TS 2 at the Roundalab Convention in June 2026. Street Fair was written in 1974 and was one of the first dances to make it onto the Roundalab Classic List. This is a big honour which we are looking forward to.

Happy Dancing

Anne & Les Tulloch
