17th Birthday May 2012

Our 17th Birthday Dance was a great success, with a host of callers and visitors from other clubs.

See some photos of our 17th Birthday Dance here.

Here is our Round Up article for June 2012.

"What a day this has been" - these were some of the words from the song which Les used to open our 17th Birthday Dance. And how true they were. The theme was Masquerade, and it was good to see so many getting into the theme by wearing masks. There were 6 sets dancing the final bracket before supper with one left over. Whilst that may not be a lot it was better than in recent years and the atmosphere was great.

The move back to May seems to have done us well. When explained by Les there was a good reaction from dancers. This was also mentioned by Jan Stephens, Vice President of The South Australian Square Dance Society, who gave us a very complimentary and encouraging speech.

We had some of our beginners attend after having been dancing for only 6 weeks, and they really enjoyed the experience.

There were a lot of visiting callers. Thank you to Graham Elliott, Jeff Seidel, Milton McKenzie, Ivan Cooke, Ian Rutter and especially to Les Heaton from Henry Kendall Squares in NSW, and Anne Tulloch for cueing.

Greg Megow made the decorations which were very effective. Thank you to Greg Megow, Marilyn Simpson, Peter Stavast, Malcolm Jeffs and Virginia Thompson for setting up the hall, to Louise Moore for cutting the cake, and lastly to all the dancers wh attended.

For those who did not come you missed a great night.

Happy Dancing from Anne & Les
